"The
faculty provides each student with one-on-one attention and helps
every person feel like a vital part of the music program. The
word that best describes the School of Music at SFA is 'Family.'
From the moment you step into your first theory class to the
time you walk across the graduation stage, you know that your
life has been touched by caring people and the gift of music."
Miranda Fort, Sophomore music education major from Hallsville |
The
School of Music at SFA is committed to providing graduate and undergraduate
curricula with a wide variety of musical experiences, designed to
prepare students to confidently begin or continue careers in music
education, performance and composition. Our goal is to graduate persons
who are highly competent musicians, accomplished performers, sensitive
artists, and articulate musical leaders who clearly understand the
value and role of music as part of our cultural heritage and welfare
and also as part of the very essence of human existence.
To
that end, the School of Music is also committed to attracting and
retaining students and faculty of the highest quality possible and
dedicated to the creation of an academic climate in which both may
work and interact with broad creative freedom.
