The East Texas Youth Wind Ensemble

In its Inaugural Season

The East Texas Youth Wind Ensemble is an audition-based concert band comprised of the top high school aged band instrumentalists in the East Texas area. As an ensemble, we seek to educate and inspire our regional instrumentalists while providing exhilarating musical performances for the East Texas community. The ensemble gives at least two performances a semester in various venues around the Nacogdoches area.

The ensemble is currently holding auditions for the following instruments:

  • Flute/Piccolo
  • Oboe
  • Bassoon
  • Clarinet
  • Bass Clarinet
  • Contrabass Clarinet
  • Alto Saxophone
  • Tenor Saxophone
  • Bari Saxophone
  • Trumpet
  • Horn
  • Trombone
  • Euphonium
  • Tuba
  • Percussion
  • Piano
  • Harp
  • String Bass

Auditions are open for any Texas student in their 9th-12th grade year. Students are to select their own audition music from excerpts of the following: TMEA or ATSSB Region Band Etudes from any year, prepared etudes or studies, orchestral or wind band excerpts, or a solo (no accompaniment is required). Only 3-5 minutes worth of music is necessary. Two excerpts of contrasting styles is a plus.

Auditions for the Spring Inaugural Season will be on January 4th and 11th in the School of Music at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches. Rehearsals will meet every Sunday from 3:00-5:00 in the Band Hall of the Music Building at SFA.

The cost is $120 per semester and can be paid in up to four installments
